Apple Inc., a multinational technology company in the United States with revenue of $383.285 billion in fiscal year 2023, is headquartered in Cupertino, California, USA, and was co-founded by Steve Jobs and Steve Gary Wozniak. The company was initially engaged in computer design and sales, and later developed into the design and development of computers, mobile phones, wearable devices and other electronic products, providing computer software, online services and other businesses.
In 1976, Apple began to enter the computer market by selling the Apple I. With the success of the Apple II after its release, Apple grew rapidly, and in 1980 it went public on the NASDAQ. In 1984, the Apple Macintosh was launched, the world’s first personal computer to successfully use a graphical user interface. In 1985, due to a power struggle caused by internal contradictions, Wozniak and Jobs left the company one after another. In 1997, Apple bought NeXT, which was founded by Mr. Jobs, and Mr. Jobs returned to the company. In 2011, Jobs resigned for health reasons, and Tim Cook took over as CEO.
Apple has been on the Fortune 500 list several times and has been named one of the most valuable brands by several media outlets. In 2020, Apple’s market capitalization exceeded $2 trillion for the first time. In 2022, the market capitalization exceeded $3 trillion. As of June 12, 2024, Apple’s market capitalization has reached $3.23 trillion.
