Facebook (abbreviated as FB) is often translated as Facebook, Facebook, and Facebook. It is a social networking service and social media website originating from the United States, headquartered in Menlo Park, San Mateo County, California, USA. Originally known as “theFacebook”, the name was inspired by the nickname “Face Book”

given to students in the United States by high schools in the United States to provide students with an address book (or roster) containing photos and contact information. In addition to text messages, Facebook users can send images, videos, documents, stickers, and sound media messages to other users, as well as share their location through the integrated map feature. Facebook was founded on February 4, 2004 by Mark Zuckerberg and his roommates at Harvard University. Initially, Facebook membership was restricted to Harvard students, but has since expanded to include other students in the Boston area, including some Ivy League schools, MIT, New York University, Stanford University, and others. It was then gradually supported to allow other college and high school students to join, and eventually to anyone 13 or older. Facebook now allows anyone who claims to be at least 13 years old to sign up.

Users must sign up to use Facebook, and after signing up, they can create a profile, add other users as friends, pass messages, and get automatic notifications when other users update their profiles. Users can also join groups of similar interests, categorized by location, school, or other characteristics. Users can also add friends to different lists, such as “colleagues” or “close friends”. As of the first quarter of 2020, Facebook had more than 2.6 billion active users, of which about 9% were false users. As of 2012, Facebook generated a total of 180 petabytes (petabytes) of data per year, with an increase of 0.5 petabytes per 24 hours. Statistics show that 350 million images are uploaded to Facebook every day.
